ESPN back in the Philippines in TV 5 partnership
ESPN, the international sports broadcaster, is returning to the Philippines in a multi-year tie-up with domestic commercial network TV5.
It has been announced that TV5’s Sports 5 offering is to be rebranded as ESPN 5, and the US broadcaster will license more than 2,500 hours of additional programming per year comprising major events and original and studio programming.
ESPN 5 and a dedicated SportsCenter Philippine Edition featuring the main sports news of the day will be available via the free-to-air channels TV5 and Aksyon 41, complemented by a co-branded ESPN 5 website and app for fans in the country.
The ESPN 5 line-up will include more than 70 NFL games per season, college American football and basketball, extreme sports' X Games and motor racing’s IndyCar Series, all of which will complement TV 5’s existing sports portfolio.
